Phil and I thank those who were right there with us feeding the many living on the streets in San Francisco. Like many of America’s streets that are home and the dinner table for people, we can not rely on organizations or the government going forward to be helpful . More than five hundred were fed beginning May 1st to July 24th, starting with bologna sandwiches, and packaged items I had in my kitchen. Such as granola bars, raisins in each boxes, small anti-bacterial containers and bottle water I did buy.  Money came in slowly from regular Americans but it came, this helped to add more items to the packs.

We have come across many type of people from all walks of life. Teachers, couples, women, early gay  teens, drinkers ,drug users and mentally challenged people who are only the few. Introducing myself into their sub community was not accepted easily. It took months for them to speak with me other than a yes or no. Now they at times are chatty and reach out for human contact. I am willing to give that contact to a degree but realize I cannot fix their lives only offer food and water..a basic need.

Trying to get help from local organizations here is nil… in a socially diverse city. Not even our government offer help , encouragement or information for those on the streets. Where are they to go? What are they to do for survival? There are many people living out there, per block it can be 2 homeless to 5 regular home dwellers. We are the only help for them whether they wait for us outside a restaurant or we give them food packs. The reward is in indescribable to see on their faces or in their eyes the gratitude that reminds us of the feeling when we receive that special gift.

Monday will begin the next leg towards a goal of  1000 people fed. We never thought it could ever be this major but glad I was guided to do this with my business partner to show it can be done!

About wennye7

I live in beautiful San Francisco Bay Area, though inwardly not so. There are so many sheltered by the streets and without so my best friend and I decided we needed to act. We created the project " FEEDING THE HUNGRY" to feed five days of the week. We have fed 242 to date starting May 1st, goal 500 people. July 31st we have now fed 364 on the streets of our city.
